What is the Wicked Women Writer Challenge?

A challenge to all women horror writers, published or unpublished. Not only do you get to show off your prose, but we challenge you to perform your story in a podcast recording for all our listening pleasures. Both your written story and audio podcast are publicly judged and voted upon by the fans to determine who becomes 2013 Most Wicked. Each podcast story must be crafted by the entrant and will be limited to ten (10) minutes.

2013 Theme: How Will You Survive?

Premise: Life is never convenient. Why should the apocalypse be any different? Our challenge is how would you survive in an untimely apocalyptic situation.

Story Elements

Upon acceptance in to the 2013 Wicked Women Writers Challenge, your destiny will fall under the Norns Hand of Fate. The Norns will randomly assign the following required elements to help you craft your apocalyptic survival story.

Location: Where will you be when the inevitable strikes? The office lunchroom, stuck on the freeway, a public toilet, or at the gynecologist? We’re pretty sure it won’t be while you’re hunkered down in an underground missile silo with a fully loaded bug out bag.

Disaster: How will the end of the world strike? There is an endless spectrum of how humans will meet their ultimate demise. EMP blasts, super volcano, economic collapse, aliens, terrorist invasion, asteroids, or possibly even zombies are but a few of the ways to end humanity, as we know it. Will you be prepared? What Will You Do to Survive?

Item: It wouldn’t be fair to trap you in a room full of flesh-eating slugs and not give you a fly swatter now would it? Each challenger will receive one item to help them out of their dire situation. Use your item wisely.

Caveat Disability: You are trapped in your designated location. Unfortunately, you have an untimely disability. There is someone or something trying to kill and possibly eat you. Will you escape or battle it through to the bitter end? What might await you on the outside if you do manage to escape? How Will You Survive?

WARNING: The Norns are feeling itchy this year. This challenge is not for the faint of heart.

The Mark of a Druid is now available for Iphones and Droid applications. Whoot I can honestly say I didn’t think I would have the first novel out in all formats, but now  I can say it is! Get it everywhere and I mean that. I am writing again. The move set be back but I am working on When Ethers Descend I hope to have it ready by summer 2011 but we will see how editing goes that is always a tough process for me.

I am also working on Truth Slithers which I hope to have done this coming year too. Look for changes in the Podioracket show line up in 2011. I am taking a much needed vacation for the holidays and heading to my mom’s house. So except the next post in 2011! Have a great Holiday Season Everyone!

The Wicked Women Writers are at it again! You have until Nov 16th to vote for the most wicked woman write who will carry the title Most wicked for 2010!

This year there are more contestants and more stories. The rules were this the theme was the 7 deadly sins. Each of us was given a sin and 30 days to write record edit and produce a audio version of the sin we were assigned. I got LUST! Imagine that! As you can guess this is not a story for the little ones and it is not work safe, you have been warned!

I had a good time with this story and now that I have listened to all 6 of the entries I must say you will have a hard time picking!

Once you have heard them all email Emzbox@sbcglobal.net with your vote. In the subject line put WWW and your vote goes in the body. One of the voters will win schwag from all of the women!  You can only vote once. The winner will be drawn at random and each writer will send you something.

In March on Book Island during the Emz Mazie’s taping of Horroraddicts I released in SL Scottland Burns! It was a great turnout Scotland Burns was played during the show, music from  Stephen Cooper and the movie review os Loch Ness Terror 2008 were discussed. As always Emerain Rick dazzled us with horror trivia, news and events from around the world. For the full show go to www.horroraddicts.net. The costume contest:  500L was awarded to Farye Starscribe, she dressed as Nessie herself. The Dragon rides were a grand hit. Now it is time to bring it to you on this feed. Spread the word!  

This week I was featured in a down and drity interview about my writing on Lorna T. Suzuki’s blog at http://web.me.com/imagobooks I currently have her novel on my to read list.

Insight Zadark podcrafters hours on Monday at both locations. First on Cookie Island  from 12:00-1:oo pm SLT then off to Book Island  1:00 to 2:00 when we start the reading of the chapter of The Mark of a Druid at the new celtic village on the beach!  And a special Easter Egg Hunt with 11 prizes hidden in eggs all over the Island. The clues will be given at the reading. Now not every egg has a prize, but 11 of them have 200L hidden within. At 5:00 Pm SLT the podcast of The Mark of a Druid will play also at the beach but on the stage. If there are any eggs left I will announce the clues again.

Thursday I will be intrviewing Secret Wolrd Chronicles Authors Mercedes Lackey, Dennis Lee and the voice talent of Veronica Giguere join BTR-PR. Currently Secret Wolrd Chronicle has 3 books on on Podiobooks.com. Lets find out how they collaberate to produce.

March 7th 9:30 am SLT on Book Island, address 22 Gutenberg Alley, at Quills. Emz Mazie will be taping the next episode of Horroraddicts live in SL! So what makes this any more special than a killer live taping with Emz? Well… Insight is the featured author and her topic is sea monster/lockness. In honore of her release of Scotland Burns we are having a huge event. So what will you miss if you can’t make it?

Sunday is the big event!

Many podiobook listeners and producers will know by now that this year began very badly for Tee Morris, one of the founding father’s of Podiobooks.com. He is now facing raising his daughter, affectionately known as SonicBoom by himself after the death of her mother.

Many donated to the ChipIn fund which helped with the immediate expenses surrounding Natalie’s death, and even left a portion over to begin a trust fund. However, as those of you with kids know, raising them is not cheap – let alone sending them to college!

So I thought ‘hey maybe I’ll auction off a few things I have here’ (Mainly the Weather Child original manuscript) – and it kinda snowballed from there. The Boom Effect auction is now hitting 70 auction lots, and I know there are more to come.

People have done some amazing craft projects, donated rare and beautiful things, and been very creative with what services they are offering.

So the WWW knows tomorrow is the first day of weekly readings in SL of The Mark of a Druid. The readings will be live and be a pretty straight read with some sound effects for POV changes if I can get it set up in time. This group is a charity organization that sponsors Children one paired one form northern Ireland and one from Southern Ireland for a summer spent in a American home in an effort to dispel old myths that there is a need for ancient hatreds of their surroundings. Rhonda is nice enough to allow me to network with you. For one, I want to announce that she’s going to be my guest on a Second Life author/artist chat. I’ve booked her for Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010. I’m very excited to learn about her writing, as I’m sure all of you are. For those of you unfamiliar with Second Life, it’s a 3D virtual/voice social network unlike anything you’ve ever seen. 80,000 people from around the world are already inworld. After establishing a free account on www.secondlife.com, creating an avatar, you teleport to sims you desire to explore. I’ve created a coffee shop (on a sim called Terric), an Asian tea house (on Starrs), both of which I’m currently booking weekly chats for. Now, the conference center is something different. Authors, publishers, pr reps, will be able to rent monthly a workstation to have a virtual office area. I can provide a lot of realistic add ons. The top floor will be rented per session for virtual book signings, lectures, etc. It will all be affordable. My goal, mainly, is for it to be a functional building where authors can come together.
